DIY Wednesday: How to Make Tinted Lip Balm at Home

Hey Everyone!

Today in ‘Do It Yourself’ Wednesday I’m going to show how to make Tinted Lip Balm at home and this is my one of the favorite DIY. Tined lip balm is the best alternative for those who (like me) don’t like to wear lipsticks often! Tinted lip balms are glossier, shiny and little comes long way.  Tinted lip balm is very easy to do at home with simple ingredients from the kitchen cabin. So shall we start!

You will Need...
  1. Vaseline or Beeswax- this is the base for lip balm
  2. Honey- 1 spoon
  3. Coconut oil- 1 spoon
  4. Essential oil- 1 to 2 drops of lavender oil or peppermint oil or your choice (optional)
  5. Small piece of Lipstick- shade/color is your choice
  6. Small tin with lid or any unused small jar – to store the lip balm

Key ingredients

Steps to Follow:

Step 1:
Add desired amount of Vaseline in a clean bowl. I used 2 spoons of Vaseline here.
Step 2:
Add 1 spoon of honey and coconut oil to the Vaseline.

Step 3:
Now cut the small piece from the lipstick and add that to the bowl of Vaseline and honey. I used dark shade here, the shade is more like cranberry. You can use any shade of your interest.

Step 4:
Add the ingredients into a bowl and heat it slow. Stir it slowly using fork and you can see the ingredients start melting in no seconds. Stir it well. It takes less than 2 minutes for the meltdown. Don’t over heat the mixture. Just it takes 2 minutes to melt completely.

Step 5:
Allow the mixture to cool for seconds and add 2 to 1 drop of essential oil. Mix it well and transfer into clean small jar.

Step 6:
Now leave the lid on the small jar and cool it for 5 to 6 hours or you want to rapid cool it then you can refrigerate the mixture for about 2 to 3 hours or even more.

The tinted lip balm is ready to use :) its summer time so you can refrigerate it when it’s not in use.

Do try it at home and it takes hardly 10 to 15 minutes to do. Tinted lip balm gives immense moisturization effect to lips. Adds glossier and shine look to lips without any huge amount of money spend.

Now enjoy your soft natural lips :) with homemade Tinted lip balm.

  6. I am loving your adorable site here! Can't wait to try the homemade mascara since I am obsessed with mascara and I hope it turns out well. I just wanted to say that I have made a very similar tinted lip balm and I used a couple scrapes of a powder blush instead of lipstick and it came out pretty, colored, but sheer. Love it! Also, you can use your microwave, just keep your eye on it and only zap it like 10 seconds at a time. Nice post Gowthami!
